This blog was created by Steve Scott and is dedicated to educating the casual Striper angler. Team Lanier consists of myself and a crew of one to two invited guests. As captain I locate the fish, give advice, take the pictures and post the stories of the day with all of the technical details on my blog each Saturday. I am also a Striper conservationist so I catch and release – “a fish is too valuable to catch only once”. I take extreme precautions limiting the Striper’s time out of the water with cell phone camera ready, ruler in place on the floor for measuring or a scale for weighing and a Seaqualizer in position to lower the Striper back into its survival zone. I also write a monthly Striper report in the Coastal Angler magazine and weekly in the Georgia Wildlife Resources Division blog. My recent outings with the Lanier Striper Club in 2017 included taking the Gwinnett County Police Officers Striper fishing on Lake Lanier as my way of honoring their dedication and courage in the line of duty in late May and taking the Atlanta Falcons & Wounded Warriors Striper fishing also held on Lake Lanier in June. To learn more about Striper fishing join a club. There are two Striper clubs on Lake lanier. The Lanier Striper Club meetings are held on the 1st Tuesday of each month meeting at Hammond’s Fishing Center in Cumming Georgia and the Oakwood Striper Club meeting the 2nd Monday of each month in Oakwood Georgia.
